Notes on OpenShellOrg — standards, tooling, and how the organization is taking shape.

  1. Agents trust the shell to read a file correctly

    Windows PowerShell 5.1 still reads BOM-less UTF-8 as a 1990s code page, without a warning. Agents edit through the shell all day, so silent transcoding is now an AI-compatibility bug, and the SOS standard is adding text-encoding requirements to say so.

  2. Tool runs leave the scrollback

    OpenShellOrg published architecture for compilers as structured Tool Runs — shared daemon, embeddable library, and per-command channels — instead of treating stderr as the product.

  3. PlayTime as a shell-boundary cousin

    A document runner that spawns argv without a shell rhymes with OpenShellOrg. It is being built in Dev-Centr scriptbook. We are not moving it.

  4. We’re partnering with DevCentr (on purpose)

    OpenShellOrg and DevCentr are aligning hard on shells, entrypoints, and toolchain honesty — without merging into one mega-org.
